Become a Consultant in March and enjoy the Bonus

Having a team of consultants in Close To My Heart is one of the things I love about my job.  We have a great time together creating and sharing what we do.  If you have ever considered being a consultant, you will be rewarded with a bonus if you do so in March.  Along with the kit for $99 you will receive the Art Philosophy Cricut Collection exclusively sold at Close To My Heart.  Did you know this cartridge has 700 shapes?  The shapes include 3-D items and boxes as well as alphabet and number fonts.  You can see how I used some of the shapes for my March pages below.  Please contact me with your questions at (970) 285-9230 or pajarrett@comcast.net.   Close To My Heart has been a huge blessing in my life and I would love for you to be blessed too!

March Scrapbook Project--the beginnings

I am super excited to guide you in making the roses, leaves and butterfly to grace the March pages.  All three shapes are cut from the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and each shape has a "special secret" to achieve the look you see here.

  1. After I get some photos of my granddaughters I will post the finished "Pretty in Pink" pages.  If you have a special interest in the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and collection (which is FABULOUS) please read about the added bonus for joining Close To My Heart in MARCH.  It is a real winner!

For March Playgroups--Card Projects

Our card projects will be made using the Lucy kit colors and the March Stamp of the Month--Potential.  Come try your hand at the shadow stamping.  You will find it easy yet impressive!  Add a few of the Bitty Pearls, Art Philosophy shapes and your 3-D foam tape and you will have a work of art worth sharing.  The new stamp set "Just a Number" will be available in case you want to make cards ready for birthdays to come.

December Projects

I am excited about our December cards featuring the Roxie papers.  They are paired with the December Stamp of the Month which is a Valentine's Day set.  If this is your selected project at a December playgroup, you will make a buckle card, a card with the a blingy band and zebra striped scored medallion and a treat holder for either Ghiradelli chocolates or tea bags.  Contact me for a time you can attend playgroup.  You will be glad you did!

Our wonderful daughter-in-law sent these too-cute pictures of Kayleigh to us and they were just right for the Roxie papers.  Roxie would also be perfect for Christmas or Valentine photos.  To make them more masculine, use Desert Sand instead of the Zip Strip and embellish with Milepost Shapes made from corrugated chipboard shapes.  The pages could be your project for playgroup in December or the left page a project for a gathering.

November Projects

The card projects for November use the TYPESET papers.  I included a lot of Cricut shapes to go along with the Stamp of The Month, Cherish the Day.  The stamps go on the ticket shapes made by the Cricut.  Here we will stamp on Colonial White cardstock and then sponge in Creme Brulee.  The ribbon is tied through a buckle shape made with the Cricut.  To give it strength, I had people stack three shapes on top of each other and glue them together.

For scrapbook pages in November we are using the TYPESET papers.  The pages are based on a layout featured on page 18 of the Autumn Winter Idea Book.  The pattern or design for these pages (Magician's Choice) is found in our Magic how-to book.  If you have never looked in to our how-to books, I would encourage you to do so.  Priced at $21.95 each, you cannot go wrong.  They make great gifts for those special people in your life who like to scrapbook.

October Playgroup Projects and Cricut Class

At my playgroups each month you pick either the cards or the pages as your project and along with basic supplies you bring, you will have an opportunity to create art to keep (your scrapbook) or art you give away.  For October we will use the Stamp of the Month set (Holiday Magic) with the Wonderland papers (X7146B) for the cards and stamp set Snowflakes (D1480) and Wonderland papers for the pages. The projects are shown here.  Please check my calendar by going to the bottom of this page and selecting "Older post" and let me know if you wish to attend a playgroup.  I will then tell you what supplies you need to bring.  The cost for the playgroup is a minimum $15 order plus shipping and tax.  You may click on pictures to make them larger for more detail.

For the Cricut Classes you will make a card modeled after one sent to me and created by my lovely upline, Karen Pedersen.  I just changed Karen's butterfly, flower and border to Cricut shapes so the card is almost entirely Cricut-ted!  You can add a cord to the sweet mini album and wear it proudly for keeping the special photos Close to Your Heart!  It is a 2 1/2 inch square.

Pam J

Shading the Pumpkin

At my very first Close To My Heart convention I learned a method of filling in outline stamps or shading solid stamps that elevated my artwork (at least I thought so).  This was called Quick Color and it is what I would like to share with you using the So Grateful stamp set, B1395 found on page 66 in our current Idea Book. ($9.95)
The process: Stamp the solid pumpkin in Sunflower on your project cardstock.

Stamp the pumpkin image on glossy cardstock or photo printing paper.  Using a cutting knife (Z1252, $4.95 and includes 3 blades) cut out sections of the pumpkin.  Since there were 6 pumpkin sections I made three templates with two sections cut out on each template.  Place the cut out template over the top of your project pumpkin.  Using sponge daubers (Z726 3 for $3.95)  slide across the template and bring color to your project first with Goldrush, then Autumn Terra Cotta inks.  The Goldrush will be taken more into the design and the Autumn Terra Cotta will be on the edge.

Your results will be a  beautifully shaded pumpkin with 3-D appearance.  Add a stem from the stampset and decorate your pumpkin with the curly vines and leaves.  This card used the Dreamin' paper packet.  Gorgeous!

If you would like further instructions or would like to place an order, please contact me at pajarrett@comcast.net.  This is a wonderful stamp set for all the Autumn and Thanksgiving times coming up.

Pam J

Studio J--an easy way to preserve your memories

Nearly every one of the people I serve in my Close To My Heart classes has told me they LOVE the whole creative process--playing with papers and color then embellishing.  This "by hand" process is what we call "classic" and added to the classic way is the social aspect of being with some friends or making new ones as you learn a new technique or share one you have done before.  As a consultant I always come home elated at the time we have had together and am downright joyful and thankful for the opportunity to guide in the creative process.

However, there are times and situations where you (and I) may be in a time crunch or not have access to all those great things we have to take with us to create our project.  That is where Studio J comes in for me.  In July our daughter and family came here to Colorado to spend a few days.  It had been seven years since they were here at all and 15 years since Karen had been here in the summer.  They thoroughly enjoyed seeing a part of the country so beautiful and Karen's husband took many photos.  I asked him to put the pictures from his camera on my computer before they left.  What you see here are the first two of several layouts I am creating for them using Studio J.  I have kept them very simple and some of the journaling will be added by them to photo pockets.  Then because I can download the jpgs of these pages, I can have them printed in a smaller size for each of the boys at some later date.  If you would like to give Studio J a try, I will welcome any questions and would love to assist you.  The finished product is a treasure!

Sharing with joy,
Pam J
